Pardons Unit

Employees of this unit are responsible for processing all applications for voting rights restoration, pardons, and remission of fines and forfeitures. They coordinate with the Bureau’s field offices to complete the required investigations for each application. They are also responsible for setting all pardon and remission consideration hearings and providing notice of these hearings as required by Alabama law.

Nicole Hudson | Pardons Unit Manager

Nicole Hudson serves as the Pardons Unit Manager at the Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles. In this role, she oversees operations for the processing of all applications for voting rights restoration, pardons, and remission of fines and forfeitures. Other operations include coordinating with the Bureau’s field offices to complete the required investigations for each application. They are also responsible for setting all pardon and remission consideration hearings and providing notice of these hearings as required by Alabama law.

Hudson began her career as a Probation and Parole Officer at the Wetumpka Field Office in 2004. After serving for 11 years in this role, she was promoted to Senior Probation and Parole Officer and transferred to the Training Division. Two years later, she was promoted to Day Reporting Center Manager in Special Populations. In November 2020, she was laterally transferred to the Pardons Unit.

As an officer, Hudson is certified by the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission, Ohio Risk Assessment System and Chemical Spray Certification. In addition, she is certified as a Chemical Spray Instructor and Vanguard Instructor. Hudson received her Bachelor of Science in Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University at Montgomery in 2003.

Hudson is a proud Alabama native. She participates in Leadership Elmore County, a community organization cultivating leadership development.
