Parole and pardon hearings are held in Open Public Meeting each week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday unless otherwise noted.
Hearings are held at 301 South Ripley St. Montgomery, AL 36104. Please look for signs directing you to the waiting rooms. Our waiting rooms open at 7:30 AM. Please do not arrive prior to 7:30 AM.
All victims, victim advocates, victim representatives, law enforcement officers, and officials may wait in the designated “Victim” waiting room. All other persons may wait in the designated “Non-Victim” waiting room. When you arrive, you must pass through a security screening. No weapons of any kind are allowed on the premises. Once you have been screened, please check in at the kiosk or with an intake clerk. You will be required to provide the name, relationship to either the victim or offender, and contact information for each participant in the hearing.
If you have a disability and wish to attend a hearing, please contact our Chief of Security at 334.242.8700 for assistance.
The Open Public Meeting begins at 8:00 AM for the Board to conduct any non-hearing business. The hearings are then called at the Board’s discretion. When your case is called, you will be escorted to the hearing room.
Hearing Process:
Please note that an inmate will not be present for a parole hearing. However, a pardon applicant may be present.
Anyone present on behalf of the offender will be allowed to speak first and give any explanation as to why the offender should be granted parole or a pardon. The Board may ask questions and allow you to present any documentation at their discretion.
Anyone present on behalf of the victim or protesting the granting of parole or a pardon will then be allowed to address the Board. The Board may also ask questions and allow you to present any documentation at their discretion.
The Board will then enter Executive Session to discuss any information in the offender’s file. Once they have discussed all necessary information, they will vote on whether to grant or deny the pardon or parole. The Board will announce their decision at the conclusion of the hearing to those present.
Hearing Room Policies:
- All hearings are open to the public. If you wish to attend hearings other than your own, you may inform a security guard that you would like to attend the hearings and they will escort you to the hearing room in between hearings.

- If you choose to remain in the waiting room, you will be notified when your case is called for a hearing and escorted to the hearing room.

Once the cancelled hearings are reset, we will then work to set those remaining inmates eligible for parole consideration. We will send a notice to each inmate once the hearing has been set. If you wish to receive a courtesy notice of this hearing, please email your name, mailing address or email address, and the inmate’s name and AIS number to notifications@paroles.alabama.gov with “Courtesy Notice Request” in the subject line.
