ADVISORY: Bureau Joins with Ingram State and Partners for Montgomery DRC Participant Resource Fair

Montgomery, Ala. — The Alabama Bureau of Pardons & Paroles (ABPP), partnering with Alabama Power, the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA), J.F. Ingram State Technical College (ISTC), and the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) will host a resource fair for probationers, parolees, ISTC students and nearby justice-involved individuals. The event will be held at the Montgomery Day Reporting Center on Thursday, February 20.

The goal is to connect justice-involved individuals with job creators and companies offering great opportunities on-site for application intake and on-the-spot position interviews. This effort will assist in our collective interests to reduce state recidivism and increase Alabama’s workforce participation.

This upcoming event follows successful participant resource fairs at the Perry County PREP Center and Huntsville Day Reporting Center, where hundreds of participants were able to get a step up in their career by attending. Organizations involved are expecting similar success stories for the participants at the Montgomery DRC.

Alongside local employers offering high quality jobs and training, the Alabama Experience, or ALEX, will return to further motivate participants. ALEX is a mobile exhibit featuring a collection of interactive kiosks and informational pieces, as well as a knowledgeable staff who walk visitors through every aspect of life here in Alabama; from work and play to costs of living. This workforce development tool will allow people to be introduced to the building trades, learn about post-high school educational opportunities, interact with local employees, and connect them to thriving careers in the state.
