The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles held 34 parole hearings Wednesday, granting five paroles and denying 29. Five parole hearings were continued to a later date. The board also held seven hearings on requests for pardons.
Among those denied parole Wednesday were 24 inmates who have convictions for violent crimes.
