The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles held 45 parole hearings Wednesday, granting 14 paroles and denying 31. One hearing was continued to a later date. The board also held 16 pardon hearings.
Among those denied parole Wednesday were 23 inmates who have been convicted of violent crimes.
