The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles held 39 parole hearings Thursday, granting nine paroles and denying 30. One hearing was continued to a later date. The board also held 15 pardon hearings.
Among the 30 inmates denied parole, 26 have been convicted of violent crimes.
